IMPLANT

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures.  Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances. Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by a dentist. The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile! Dental implants are very strong, stable, and durable and will last many years, but on occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.

Dental implants can:

  • Restore a patient’s confident smile

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth

  • Restore or enhance facial tissues

  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space

  • Restore chewing, speech, and digestion

  • Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable

The best way to determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants is to call our office and schedule an evaluation appointment. Your evaluation will include a complete examination and digital x-rays.

One of the most important considerations when it comes to determining whether dental implants are the right option is the density and quality of your jawbone. When you are missing teeth, your jawbone is no longer stimulated to maintain itself and will eventually begin to reabsorb. If this process has been taking place for some time, you may not have the bone structure necessary to support dental implants.

Fortunately, this situation does not rule out dental implants as an option. Today’s technology gives us the opportunity to actually replace bone when necessary through the use of bone grafts. Not only will a bone graft give us a strong place to anchor a dental implant, but it will also help to restore the shape of your face and your appearance, transforming the “sunken” appearance that is so common in people who have been missing teeth for a long time.

Dental implants typically have a high success rate, and our patients have been thrilled with their results. We also have the modern dental technology, including X-Guide 3-D Navigation and a cone-beam CT scanner, for improved placement of dental implants.
